She was a model and the face of Charlie, a Revlon fragrance. She wasn't an original from the 70s Charlie's Angels, but she eventually was cast as one of the Angels.

Thanks Robin!Moonwisheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10171117321017923042noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948563.post-37904331340996724332016-10-07T11:52:18.268-05:002016-10-07T11:52:18.268-05:00Gen, I'm old too. I hear you on doing things with your hands. I find keyboarding helps limber my hands and fingers up in the morning. But many times in the evening they hurt too much for hand work. I still can use my sewing machines to piece quilts. I love cutting up scraps, and matching them up into 4 and 9 patch blocks and other scrappy blocks. I know many don't like scrap quilts but to me they are something special. I see some quilt magazines that feature 'scrap' quilts that are made mostly from a collection of fabric that a desginer has just released - not my idea of a scrap quilt. LOL!

I learned to sew on that old Singer of my mother's which I still have. It had apparently been a treadle machine until it was taken out of the treadle and a motor installed. As far as I remember, it only did straight stitches and maybe zig zag. My mom had to put this big clunky thing on it to make buttonholes. I remember right before I left for college she got a new Kenmore with cams to make designs. I wasn't allowed to touch it until I had read the manual. My first machine was a straight/zig zag stitch machine. When it died in the midst of a seam (the dealer had to take the machine apart to get my garment out of the machine!), I got a machine with FIVE different stiches. As they say in the South I felt like I was in 'high cotton'! I now have a machine with something like 200+ stitches and I love it although they have come out with a new machine that has some features that make sewing even easier for someone like me with arthritis all over. It is a Janome Skyline S9. I'll be saving my pennies for a long time for it! :)

Thanks for leaving your comment, I appreciate it.Moonwisheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10171117321017923042noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948563.post-85806256718386521012016-10-07T09:43:50.649-05:002016-10-07T09:43:50.649-05:00You know I am old, right? Socks for soldiers, and I still knit socks, along with other things, like chemo caps for kids with cancer, and other things that strike my fancy. When knitting was not enough, I learned to make hooked rugs -- easier to make than purchase in those days! Then needlepoint, eventually graphing my own canvases. Somewhere along the way, I learned embroidery. When my children were little, I sewed their clothing. We were a starving-student family, living in Cambridge, where I could visit stores like Marimekko, make sketches of their gorgeous children's clothes, find similar fabrics on sale somewhere, and go home and make them. Yeah, eventually they wanted store-bought like every one else. But they sure looked terrific when small.

My sewing machine at the time was a rebuilt pedal singer that my father refinished for a surprise gift when I was a teen-ager. I loved it beyond words. It's gone, now, and the memory of all the love that went into it remains.

My life was enhanced by these activities. Now, with arthritis, I find many of them out of reach. My hands are not as useful as when younger. Knitting, however, still works and gives me pleasure.Gennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948563.post-68030867159900916232016-08-20T10:26:34.081-05:002016-08-20T10:26:34.081-05:00THANK YOU Gail.....I'm so very flattered!!!!THANK YOU Gail.....I'm so very flattered!!!!The Inside Storihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00984299652568523595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948563.post-58294863747699594392016-08-12T08:23:16.303-05:002016-08-12T08:23:16.303-05:00Thanks Mari! Compared to some embroidery that I have seen here on line (see my Pinterest Hand Embroidery board https://www.pinterest.com/gailetesews/hand-embroidery/) and I look like a total beginner! I learned how to embroider way back in Junior High School, moved over to counted cross stitch in my 20-30's and then got a machine that did my embroidery for me! Now I switch between hand embroidery and machine embroidery. Unfortunately so often my hands won't cooperate or I'm just too tired to focus. I think I could deal better with RA if it was just the pain, but through in the just about never ending fatigue and that takes away so much hobby time! I appreciate your comment and hope you come back to visit!Moonwisheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10171117321017923042noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10948563.post-83688699857195163732016-08-11T23:16:27.167-05:002016-08-11T23:16:27.167-05:00I'm so bad at embroidery. This is a sma...Hi Becki and thanks for stopping in. This is a small program that my missionary friend started several years ago with her native friend that knew how to embroider. This is the third box I have sent out to them by way of the missionary's relatives since packages going straight to the Congo would shall we say never get there. I've never even seen what they have done of who they sell their products to, but I did get a photo of Honorine the teacher holding some of the first items I sent and her grin was so huge, to finally have enough supplies to go around. (unfortunately I can't find that photo currently) I will ask Carma my friend, if she has any more photos or information about where the ladies sell their goods.

I have been selling sewing patterns on line now for about 10 years and I have tried to always give 10% of my income from it to programs that involve sewing with women in third world countries. Sewing and making things are some of the few ways these ladies, no matter what country, have in earning an income instead of prostitution which involves health risks besides the personal shame that comes about. We women in so called 'first' world countries should all try to do what we can to help women wherever we see the need, as I think that will bring about more real peace in the world than anything else.

Again thanks for stopping in and commenting and I will email Carma about your questions. Linen fabric, whitework embroidery, handmade, and probably made after Queen Victoria died, so Edwardian as a time frame to when they were done. They don't look as if they have been used at all!
